My footing is unstable, O Lord,
the rocks loose beneath my feet
The mountain we’re climbing is treacherous,
exposing us to many dangers
The paths are overgrown with thorns,
with too many forks to navigate
The world tells us how to decide,
our egos drink up the power
We lift up our own horns,
trusting in our human strength
Our insecurities build up walls,
that truth cannot penetrate
Change my heart, O Lord,
from pride to trust in you
What can compare to the power of God,
the creator of heaven and earth?
What is the capacity of our feeble minds,
compared to the majesty of the universe?
Your wonders are beyond our comprehension,
yet we trust in our own abilities
You sent your only Son to save us,
because you love us beyond measure
He told us what you command,
in words we can understand
To love you with our hearts, souls, minds,
and to love our neighbors as ourselves
Yours is the path we must follow,
cleared by Christ and marked with love
Your power and might will carry us through,
when our human flaws fail us
My footing is solid, O Lord,
you are the Rock on which I stand
